Are you working from home? There are definitely some benefits to telecommuting … such as hanging out with your dog all day. Many of our canine patients would be more than thrilled to realize that they can now spend more time with their favorite humans. However, you may need to manage Fido’s enthusiasm a bit. Read on for some tips on telecommuting with your dog from a local London, ON vet.
Make Time For Play
Dogs are very active and playful. Make sure that your furry best buddy is getting enough exercise. Most pups need at least a daily walk or two. In between those, keep Fido moving by playing Fetch or holding a laser pointer for him to chase. If you have steps, you and your pet can do stair runs. Try to tire your pooch out a bit before you start work for the day. That way, he will probably nap through a chunk of your workday.
Stick To A Schedule
Dogs and people both tend to thrive on a set routine. Try to stick to a daily schedule for meals, exercise, walks, work, breaks, doggy cuddle and playtime, and, well, everything else.
But Expect Fido To Break Routine
Fido is pretty good at letting on when he wants a walk. Don’t be surprised if you find your pet nudging you or starting to bounce around. Take your canine buddy out when he needs to go. It’s important for you to get up and walk around a bit anyway.
Enjoy Comforts
Man’s Best Friend is very loyal, loving, and faithful. He may very well sense it when you are stressed or scared, and stick close to you. Take advantage of this, and cuddle Fido frequently!
Take Photos
This is a great time to get some cute photos of your adorable co-worker. Put a tie on Fido, and snap his picture for Take Your Dog To Work Day.
Don’t Overlook Wellness Care
We know, there’s a lot going on this year. Be sure to keep up with Fido’s preventative care, such as vaccinations and parasite control. This will keep your furry best friend safe from dangerous diseases and parasites. It’s also important to make sure your pooch is microchipped and wearing ID tags.
