Entertaining Your Cat

Did you know that cats can get bored? We know, this may seem a bit strange, given that Fluffy seems to rather enjoy doing absolutely nothing. Even though kitties spend a lot of time sleeping, relaxing, and just lounging about, even the sleepiest feline needs some form of amusement. In this article, a local London, ON vet offers some great ways to entertain your cat.

Toys

Make sure your cat has lots of fun toys. These can range from classic, simple kitty toys, like catnip mice or little balls, to more modern playthings, like robotic toys and automated laser pointers. You can even download apps for Fluffy to play with on your phone!

Window Views

One of the best ways to keep your cat amused is to give her a comfy window seat with a good view, so she can daydream and watch local birds and squirrels. To make this even more fun for your pet, put a bird feeder where she can see it. Live entertainment can keep Fluffy occupied for hours!

DVDs

Did you know that you can purchase DVDs made just for kitties? As it turns out, many cats really enjoy watching programs about birds and other small animals.

Playtime

Take time to play with your kitty every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Use toys that you can control, like laser pointers or wand toys. This will stimulate your cat’s inner huntress, and will also offer her beneficial mental stimulation. Plus, all that leaping and pouncing will be great for your pet physically!

Kitty Furniture

Cat towers can benefit our feline friends in many ways. They offer Fluffy a jungle gym, a napping spot, and a scratching post, plus they give your kitty a great lookout spot from which she can observe her kingdom. Pet tents and towers can also be lots of fun for kitties.

Playmates

If your feline buddy is still quite young, or has lived peacefully with other cats before, she may adapt very well to having a furry roommate to play with. That said, getting a second cat isn’t going to be the right choice for everyone. Ask your vet for recommendations before deciding to adopt another pet.
